PAKENHAM EMERGENCY SERVICES PRECINCT

LOCATION: Lakeside Link, Pakenham

CLIENT: Victoria Police

ARCHITECT: Billard Leece Partnership

DESCRIPTION:


The Pakenham Emergency Services Precinct comprises a 24 hour Police Station, a regional CFA Station and a local SES facility. The buildings have been constructed on a greenfields site on the Princes Highway on the western approach to Pakenham.

The buildings have been combined and linked as a centralised facility for improved circulation and communication. Construction is steel framed with extensive feature brickwork, metal deck roofs, aluminium windows and various cladding treatments. The project incorporates a number of important ESD principles, including;

A sub-floor thermal labyrinth to aid mechanical ventilation,and Underground watertank storage to harvest rainwater for re-use on site.


Internal courtyards and skylights enhance the extensive office and administration accommodation provided in the new buildings. Secure carparks 
and roads are incorporated for the movement, maintenance and storage of emergency vehicles. Externally the site is complemented by extensive 
paving and landscaping.

CONTRACT VALUE: $10.76M  

CONSTRUCTION TIME: 12 months

DIAMOND CREEK POLICE & EMERGENCY SERVICES FACILITY

CLIENT: Victoria Police  

ARCHITECT: Strata PNA  

DESCRIPTION

New Police Station incorporating MSA and CFA operations. Construction comprises 2 storey building with carpark. Ground and 1st floors are of reinforced concrete and structural steel frame above 1st floor level.

CONTRACT VALUE: $5.48M

WHEELERS HILL FIRE STATION

LOCATION: 654 Ferntree Gully, Wheelers Hill

CLIENT: Metropolitan Fire & Emergency Services Board

ARCHITECT: Henderson & Lodge Pty Ltd

CONTRACT VALUE : $2.7M

CONSTRUCTION TIME: 9 Months

DESCRIPTION

An existing outdated fire station was demolished to make way for the new state of the art Wheelers Hill Fire Station. Construction consists a structural steel frame clad with texture finish render masonry and fibre cement cladding.  

Facilities include gymnasium, lecture room, MFB administration, despatch areas, indoor training and drill areas, 3 bay appliance bay as well as staff sleeping and amenities and outside recreation area.  

The project incorporates ESD principles through the use of the following energy saving features;  

  • Solar hot water

  • Rain water harvest system

  • Double glazing to doors and windows

  • Solar chimneys to assist heating and cooling

  • Motion sensor activated light controls.
